How it works
- Pick what you play: drums, percussion, bass, keys, guitar, horns or strings.
- Paste what the client sent you, in their own words.
- Press Decode. Each phrase comes back with what it means for your chair, the setup, the feel, and records to hear it on.
- Tap a marked phrase to jump to what it means. Tap a time to hear the record.
Common questions
A time doesn't line up with the record. Times are where to start listening on the original studio recording and can be off by a few seconds. Remasters, single edits and videos can run to a different clock.
"Couldn't confirm this record." UMEAN checks every record against a music catalogue. One it can't find is greyed out so you know to double-check it.
What is a read? One client note, decoded for your instrument. $1.99 buys a pack of 25. A pack doesn't expire; it only goes down as you use it. A read that fails is not counted.
I bought reads on the web and they're gone. Your reads are tied to your browser. If you cleared it or changed browsers, press the button that offers a pack, then "I already bought reads", and enter the email you paid with.
I bought reads in the iPhone app. Can I use them on the web? No. Reads bought in the app stay in the app, and reads bought on the website stay on the website.
Is what I paste kept? No. It is used for that one read. See Privacy.
